James David Bower 

OTTUMWA-James David Bower, 83, of Ottumwa, died at 1:02 a.m. January 21, 2025 at home with his loved ones surrounding him.

He was born July 5, 1941 in Ottumwa to Frank and Sylvia Taylor Bower. A 1959 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Jim retired from Ottumwa Transit.

Jim enjoyed bowling, fishing, cornhole, spending time at the river lot and family. Jim is survived by the love of his life, Georgia Yoder and her sons, Wade Yoder, Kelley (Christine) Yoder; his children, Greg (Valarie) Bower of Earlham, Eddie (Sheila) Bower of Richland and Jill (John) Hedtke of New Germany, MN; 2 step-children, Tammy (Ray) Raman of Ottumwa and Tina Jones of Phoenix, AZ; 9 grandchildren, Elizabeth Bower, Stephen (Harley) Bower, Mark (Denise) Bower, Joanee Bower, Tiffany (Josh) Reber, Carissa Bower, Kiara Bower, Andrew Hedtke, Matthew Hedtke; 10 great-grandchildren, including Caitlyn (Skyler) Johnson, Emmersyn Bower and Ranger Bower; 2 sisters, Jean Myers and Pat (Dick) Reed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Sylvia Bower; 2 brothers, Frank Bower and Bob Bower; 2 sisters, Janet Baber and Connie Cline; and his second wife, Barbara Bower in October 2018. [AD: Floor To Ceiling (33-239)] Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Friday, January 24th, at Reece Funeral Home, with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Home Health Hospice.
